Stone Portal Creator License (SPCL) v1.0

Effective Date: 5/18/2025

This license is offered by Stone Portal Entertainment LLC ("Licensor") to creators who wish to publish original, unofficial content compatible with the Tales from the Skald RPG system ("the System"). This SPCL—pronounced "special"—is our invitation to creators to shape legends of their own while respecting the lore and system that bind the world of Aramyth.

1. Grant of License Licensor grants you ("Licensee") a non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable license to create, publish, and distribute original content ("Creator Work") that is compatible with the System, subject to the following conditions:

  • You may use rules and mechanics as defined in the Tales from the Skald System Reference Document ("SRD").
  • You may reference system terms, mechanics, and gameplay structures solely as outlined in the SRD.
  • You may create original adventures, character options, or settings that use the System without prior approval, provided you comply with these terms.

2. Restrictions

  • You may not alter, rewrite, or republish the mechanics of the System.
  • You may not claim compatibility, canon status, or endorsement by Stone Portal Entertainment without written permission.
  • You may not use or reproduce any Product Identity (defined below), including but not limited to: setting names (e.g., Aramyth), character names, deity names, factions, or trademarks (e.g., Tales from the Skald, Stone Portal Entertainment, Legends of Aramyth).
  • You must include the following attribution on or within your published work:

"This work is unofficial and not affiliated with or endorsed by Stone Portal Entertainment LLC. Tales from the Skald and related systems are copyright © Phil Hinkle & Stone Portal Entertainment LLC."

  • You must also include the phrase:

“Uses the Tales from the Skald™ engine.”

This may appear in plain text or with an official badge provided by Stone Portal Entertainment LLC. Unauthorized use of logos or trademarks beyond this phrase is prohibited.

A list of current terms and publishing guidance is available at https://stoneportal.online/TFTS/attribution

3. Ownership and Canon All rights in and to the System, setting, lore, and trademarks remain the exclusive property of Stone Portal Entertainment LLC. Licensee-created content is not canon and may not be presented as such.

4. Revocation and Enforcement Stone Portal Entertainment reserves the right to revoke this license, in whole or in part, in cases of infringement, breach, or bad faith use. Reasonable efforts will be made to resolve issues before formal enforcement actions.

5. Product Identity vs. Open Content See the SRD for specific designations of what content is Open (usable) and what is reserved Product Identity.

6. Termination This license may be terminated by Stone Portal Entertainment upon written notice if Licensee breaches these terms. Otherwise, it remains in effect until superseded or updated.
